Thread-topic: unvisible user unknown

Dear Majordomo-fellows,

i´m on the search about resolving problems with unvisible user unknown errors.
If majordomo runs on a mailgateway which contains all emailadresses of the own domain in aliases.db,
localhost gives back an user unknown error like this:

Jul 7 17:43:35 ownserver sendmail[24709]: m67FhYLm024705: m67FhZLl024709: DSN: /usr/lib/majordomo/lists/tmuk-ver-int: line 7: michael.foltz(at)xxxxx.com... User unknown

The owner will see, after the user unknown occurs this in his mailbox:

Your message

  To: TMUK VER INT List
  Subject: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  Sent: Mon, 7 Jul 2008 13:03:21 +0200

did not reach the following recipient(s):

tmuk-ver-int-list(at)xxxxxx.xxxxxxx.net on Mon, 7 Jul
2008 13:03:24 +0200
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message
was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient
directly to find out the correct address.
    < ownserver #5.1.1>

This problem doesn´t occurs if majordomo runs on a other server and give all mails to his smarthost.
Due to the constellation majordomo and smarthost together on the same server, the owner is unable to resolve
the problem, because he is unable to see which emailadress is faulty.

I know this is not really a prob of majordomo himself, but it seems it is not best practice to run majordomo on a
smarthost.

Best regards,
Oliver Mattis
