Makefile was configured, and user account "majordomo" and "listserv" group
exist in the config file.
Fails when I use root and or majordomo account.

Are you certain you did not want those commands separated by a
semicolon?
The only part of majordomo that requires "make"ing is the
wrapper. Everything else is perl.
In order for "make" to work, you must edit the "Makefile" to
match your installation/configuration of unix/linux. Have you
completed this step? Especially the location of perl, and the
uid/gid of your majordomo account?
